Who is Zenkai Goose?

Hey, I’m Zenkai Goose! A small-town Canadian kid who started life in Construction, then somehow became a Senior Software Developer through sheer will, and then left all that behind to become a full-time YouTube creator.

What's your YouTube channel?

My channel's called Zenkai Goose.

A play on the Dragon Ball phrase, Zenkai Boost, meaning come back stronger, and one of Canada's most notorious animals. I make videos about video games that people can feel good about watching.

I've been making YouTube content since January of 2021. Since then, my videos have reached over 26 million people, with millions more across all platforms. My most popular series, I Played Every, dives deep into game franchises and studios, exploring their evolution and the people behind them.

What's your goal?

I just want to make people happy, by making the greatest gaming videos I possibly can.

Where did you come from?

I grew up in a small town in rural Canadian. I was passionate about video games but never thought I was smart enough to make them. Until one day, I decided to quit my construction job to to pursue my dream of becoming a software developer. 10 years later, and a lot of blood, sweat and tears, I moved to the big city where I became a Senior Software Developer at a big video game company.

I thought since I hit my goals, I would be happy, but, it was clear something was still missing. So I started a YouTube channel dedicated to creating video game content that I would want to see in the world.

Now, nothing makes me happier than making content people love, if you haven't already check out my channel!

Fun Fact

My favorite thing about video games is how they imprint memories you can always access every time you play.

For example, I used to plow snow for a small city in Canada where snow can just appear any second of the day, Meaning I had to work every hour of every night to keep the streets safe at all times. But on January 26th 2010 - everything went wrong. My truck's heater broke, I hadn't slept in days, and somehow, despite it being WINTER - my bedroom flooded.

So yeah, I had better days. But on that same day, I also happened to pick up a copy of Mass Effect 2. I thought I'd play it a few minutes before passing out... Except that never happened.

Because I played Mass Effect the entire day, completely forgetting about everything bad that happened to me. Which is why I actually got the game framed!

Now when I look at this frame, I don't just see a game. I see a reminder of what's really there when we need it most.

If you want to frame your own game, I am an affiliate (meaning I get a cut), but honestly I just really really enjoy the product.
